Ever since its foundation, there was a constant concern for extending the range of themes addressed in scientific research in Constantin Brâncoveanu University, by organizing regular conferences, meetings, symposia, roundtable talks, communication sessions within its faculties and departments. The main research themes are in line with the academic specializations and aim to solve the problems related to the socio-economic, legal and cultural perspectives of Romania, especially in an European context.

Requirements in management improvement in Romania, in the context of the current economic crisis, Scientific symposium organized by the Centre for Research and Consultancy in Internal and International Economic Affairs Management, Rm. Vâlcea, January 2011

Monday, January 24, 2011, the Centre for Research and Consultancy in Internal and International Economic Affairs Management organized at its headquarters in Rm. Vâlcea the scientific symposium "Requirements in management improvement in Romania, in the context of the current economic crisis." The paper works were presented in two sections, chaired by university professors of Constantin Brâncoveanu University and local personalities: Av. Petre Ungureanu, Prefect of Vâlcea County, Engineer Romeo Radulescu, Mayor of Rm. Vâlcea, Economist Gheorghe Gogârnoiu, General Director of D.G.F.P. Vâlcea, Professor Gabriela Ene, General Inspector of I.S.J. Vâlcea. The communications submitted to the plenary symposium were: Some considerations on the significance of the day of 24 January on contemporary Romania - PhD Professor Alexandru Puiu and Romania's external debt - evolution, meaning, determinants - PhD Professor Marius Gust, and they have anchored the debates, both in the historical context and in the immediate contemporaneousness, opening the dialogue about the requirements of management and of the manager profession in Romania, in the context of the international economic crisis. The paper works were presented in thematic areas: Management on macro and micro economic level, Economic Affairs Management, Financial-Banking Management, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Economic Affairs Law, and Communication in economic affairs.

The Department of Communication Sciences of "Constantin Brâncoveanu" University in Pitești launched on 29 May 2009 the cycle of conferences entitled "Communication - Community," event thereby ushering the scientific event called "Communication Day."
Communication Day aimed to be the major-public-event day in the life of the community, having as goal to stimulate the dialogue between different audiences (specialized or targeted as message) and specialists in social communication.
2009
Leading specialists from the social communication and public relations areas have lectured with the occasion of the first edition of this scientific event. "Speech in the Public Space" was the theme approached by PhD Professor Mihai Coman, Dean of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Studies from Bucharest, the founder of the first state university in the field from Romania, scientific personality recognized worldwide. This event has also hosted the following lectures: PhD Associate Professor Cristina Coman (Rm. Vâlcea, Antim Ivireanul County Library), priest Sorin Marinescu from Birth of Virgin Mary  Church, Bishopric of Dunărea de Jos and PhD Violeta Vatau, editor of TVR (Brăila, Constantin Brâncoveanu University Assembly Room). In the second edition, held on 12 May 2010, we had as guests: PhD Tudor Nedelcea, Scientific Researcher of the Romanian Academy (Pitești), Bogdan Hrib, Director of Triton Editorial Group (Rm. Vâlcea) and PhD Professor Mihai Dinu, from the University of Bucharest (Brăila).

The cycle of conferences "Communication - community," continued in 2010 by organizing the "Communication Day" on May 12,  with the same unique way of development:  on the same day, at same time, in the three universities: Pitești, Râmnicu -Vâlcea, Brăila. The 2010 edition had as main title "Specialized journalism, a way of communication in the community." The personalities invited to give lectures have approached the topic from three perspectives: cultural communication in the Romanian communities beyond the current borders of Romania, press photography - context and trends, and fundamentals of communication. This time, the guests were: PhD Tudor Nedelcea, senior scientific researcher at the "C. S. Nicolăescu - Plopșor" Institute for Social-Human Research from Craiova of the Romanian Academy - in Pitești; writer, editor and journalist Bogdan Hrib - in Rm. Vâlcea; and the reputed PhD Professor Mihai Dinu, mathematician, linguist, anthropologist, well-known personality in the country and abroad - in Brăila.

Wednesday, March 16, Constantin Brâncoveanu University of Pitești, Brăila and Rm. Vâlcea, hosted at the same time: 13.00, the conference which brought in the conference rooms of the three cities representatives of local public administration institutions, pupils, students and teachers, as well as representatives of the local media in order to initiate a dialogue between the interested audiences and communication professionals. This time, the guests were: Professor Alexandru Mironov - in Pitești, PhD Alexandru Puiu, Rector of Constantin Brâncoveanu - in Rm. Vâlcea and PhD Professor George Grigore, in Brăila.

National Congress of Press History, Third Edition, with international participation,
Pitești, April 2010


The third edition of the Press History Congress with international participation was held on 23-24 April 2010 at "Constantin Brâncoveanu" University, a place with tradition in organizing national and international meetings with a strong impact on the institutional plan.
The congress managed to bring together specialists from 35 institutions, among which 21 universities, three institutes of the Romanian Academy, press institutions, museums, county departments of National Archives, publishers. The openness towards the European space (through the participation of specialists from Germany, Greece and Moldova) and supporting an inaugural conference through the recognizable voice of Academician Eugen Simion, are just two components of the image and value which offer credibility to the event in the competitive context and value to the research institutions and to higher education.
The National Congress of Press History with international participation, third edition, represents thus a scientific event meritorious for the Romanian Association of Press History and for the host institution, "Constantin Brâncoveanu" University from Pitești.

Public servant in European context, International Symposium, Pitești, May 20th, 2010

Organizers: "Constantin Brâncoveanu" University, Argeș County Council and Pitești Municipality City Hall. The symposium aimed to debate current issues related to the public position and to the status of civil servants in the context of European integration. At this event the following personalities have presented their paper works related to the public administration reform: Valeria Valeri, European Commission Consultant for IPA Programme for Regional Competitiveness, Ashot Bagdasaryan, team leader at COWI Denmark, Constantin Nicolescu, President of Argeș County Council, Tudor Pendiuc, Mayor of Pitești Municipality, Marcel Pandelică, State Secretary 2008-2009, Dorian Rais, Dean of the Faculty of Juridical, Administrative and Communication Studies from Brăila,  Nicolae Grădinaru, Head of Department of Juridical, Administrative Studies and Social Assistance, as well as other full university professors for subjects belonging to the "Public administration" study programme at "Constantin Brâncoveanu" University.

Post-accession strategy of Pitești Municipality during 2007-2013, Public debate, Pitești, November 2008


Organizers: Constantin Brâncoveanu University, in partnership with Pitești Municipality, Argeș County Council and Local Council of Pitești Municipality.
Constantin Brâncoveanu University used this opportunity to present the synthesis of the research results on the elaboration of Pitești Municipality post-accession strategy during 2007-2013, made in a joint team of researchers, practitioners, academics and students. The document presents the regional programmes of development for Pitești city on four chapters: programmes on municipal infrastructure, community and environment protection services, economic environment programmes, programmes concerning culture, sports and social services, programmes on human resources, education and youth.

■  Accounting, financial reporting and financial audit in the context of Romania's integration into the European Union, National Symposium, Pitești, March 2007
Participants: PhD Professor Ion Mihăilescu, President of the Financial Auditors Chamber from Romania and Head of the Finance and Accounting Department from Constantin Brâncoveanu University, PhD Professor Țurlea Eugeniu, member of the Financial Auditors Chamber Council, PhD Professor Pavel Năstase, Dean of the Accounting and Business Data Processing Faculty from the Academy of Economic Studies, PhD Associate Professor Corneliu Burada, vice president of the National Authority for Regulating and Monitoring Public Procurement and UCB Professor, teaching staff representatives from the Academy of Economic Studies and from Constantin Brâncoveanu University and over 200 students of the University. The symposium discussed the changes imposed by the EU in the financial and accounting activities and the new trends in the practical application.

Participants: the symposium brought together approximately 150 representatives of the central and local authorities, national and international guests, economists, academics from different universities, Master students, and students from Constantin Brâncoveanu University. Many of the papers presented were case studies related to Romania's current economic situation and to the role that management plays in shaping an effective development strategy, as well as studies that aimed at regional strategies - for Argeș and Brăila counties - and their development in terms of their EU accession.
